Meanwhile luxury house Mulberry used dried thistles to brush up its wool to look and feel like fur. The plants are attached to a rotating column on a machine and when the wool is fed into it, "they extract the fibres and lengthen them out to create a fur-like texture", knitwear designer Jade Leong told AFP. - Cover up those knees - View gallery - Loving black - Gareth Pugh This season also saw its more practical cousin take centre stage -- dansko shoes the wide-legged calf-length trouser, seen both on and off the catwalk. Her collar and latex miniskirt outfit was one of a series of dramatic, Victorian-inspired looks at Giles, one of the last big shows of the week. ___ SENSUALITY AT CHRISTOPHER KANE For some designers, seduction may be manifest in a low neckline or a thigh-high slit. But this is Christopher Kane, and his version of sensuality is nothing one would expect. Kane, known for his creative and kooky designs, created dresses that featured sketches of nude bodies - taken from life drawing classes. The shapes appear abstract from afar, but on scrutiny one can make out a hand here, entwined limbs there. The designer said desire was a central theme, and he was aiming for "something sexual but not grotesque." Those sketches, with their torsos, breasts and limbs, also found their way onto ethereal tulle dresses, and the artsy theme continued on pieces featuring a woman's silhouetted profile. Elsewhere, there were sleek black suits with pops of bright red on the lapels, velvet tuxedos, and bright red and blue coats with a bold lightning pattern.

Because photography isnt just about what you use, its how you use it, and that is what fashion photographer Lara Jade did in Hong Kong as part of DigitalRev TVs Cheap Camera Challenge. During a six-hour layover in Hong Kong, Jade, a New York City-based photographer who shoots for global clients, was challenged to capturecouture fashion models with the An Pan Man (, for those who read Japanese) 0.3-megapixel camera, a toy camera based off of a cartoon character with a bread bun for a head; it is the kind of thing you mightfind for cheapat a Toys R Us in Asia. She was allowed to dress up the models with expensive clothes and makeup, and came up with ninephotos of three different looks within the short amount of time in Hong Kong. She did use AlienSkin Exposure 7 to process the tones of the photos, so what you see is not just the work of the camera. In two of the photos she shot through a drinking glass for a mild warping effect. DigitalRev Jadesthoughts on using the An Pan Man? Never trust cameras that need AA batteries, and she disliked the tiny viewfinder [as well as] the fact that it wanted to compliment the models in Japanese before it even took the shot. The shutter had about a three-second lag after pushing the button (in order to compliment the subject first, of course.) Her strategy composed of making what was outside of the camera as good as possible, [relying] on the team and model to inspire me throughout the shoot. She focused on making the model striking against the background, whether by compliment or contrast. Jadesfinal thoughts werethat shehad a great time, great experience, it took me back to my roots as a photographer, and also reminded me what it is to take a great image.

While many mainstream media cropped or pixellated the errant organs peeking out from cutaway men's robes, Instagram and Twitter users made the moment go viral -- and redubbed the Californian designer #DickOwens. GQ magazine declared that Owens had gone "balls-out" with his show. "Free the peen" was a slogan born. View gallery A model presents a creation by Rick Owens during the men's Fall/Winter 2015 ready-to-wear collec Quite a few observers hailed Owen for blowing apart the hypocrisy of the fashion world by showing female nudity but little in the way of male flesh. But the broader consensus was: this was a winter collection -- and weren't designs a little, well, chilly? With that sort buzz circulating, the labels -- and maybe the models -- on Friday had their work cut out for them.
The move to tap in to the power of digital services follows an increase in the proportion of men shopping for fashion online, jumping from 52 percent to 65 percent in 2013, from a survey of 2,000 consumers aged over 16. MR PORTER.COM, a luxury online retailer whose website attracts around 1.6 million visitors a month, will launch a clothing collection designed exclusively for the film Kingsman. "Projects such as Kingsman are developed to reflect our pioneering nature and to ensure that we are providing our customers with something that they cannot get anywhere else globally" said Toby Bateman, Buying Director at MR PORTER. "They are also essential in developing brand awareness," he added. Similarly, Topman - part of British retail billionaire Philip Green's Arcadia Group, will create a video with London-based artist Natalia Stuyk to be screened at its catwalk show and shown online simultaneously as part of its live-streaming. Heritage brand Burberry will enable its customers to order clothes online right after watching a live-stream of its show on Monday.

All the Worst Dressed Stars Ever at the Golden Globes by Lindsey Sirera Fri., Jan. 9, 2015 8:00 AM PST Loading... Getty Images The bigger the red carpet, the greater the worst-dressed list. Every year there're always a few starlets who fall short of the best-dressed round up, but hey, every celeb's entitled to an off-beat red carpet. There was a much better chance for Chelsea soon after when the West Ham defence failed to deal with a cross from Willian that found Oscar , but the recalled Brazilian blasted over with only goalkeeper Adrian to beat. Gary Cahill then headed over from a delivery into the box by fellow centre-back Terry as Chelsea continued to dominate the opening exchanges. There was a nervous moment for the visitors when Hazard pushed the ball between Winston Reid's legs and went down on the edge of the box when the defender made contact, but referee Michael Oliver allowed play to continue. Enner Valencia fired a West Ham free-kick over, but Adrian was soon required to make a save at the other end as Cahill let fly from close range at the near post. I opted for a simple little black dress with lace detail and an embellished belt that ties in the back. Like Emilys dress, its perfect for New Years Eve and can also be worn throughout the year. We shag hairstyles believe New Years is the time to go big, so dont skimp on the jewelry because you want it to really pop! Having Aranda back should help, too, after the Badgers defense spent much of the season as the top-ranked unit in the country. ''They can make one call, and I told (the assistants) to save that call for Paul,'' Alvarez said. ''We've been working those commits. ''When he gets on the phone, I think we'll be in good shape.'' The immediate priority is preparing for Auburn. Just like for the Rose Bowl two years ago against Oregon, Alvarez is leading the team while a new coach waits in the background. The Badgers lost to Oregon 45-38. Alvarez still has some regrets about how he coached the game, especially when it comes to play-calling.

27 (UPI) -- Melissa McCarthy is about to add clothing designer to her long list of accomplishments. The 44-year-old actress revealed in a recent interview with Women's Wear Daily she's wanted to be a fashion designer since grade school and has finally decided to take the plunge -- she has teamed up with Sunrise Brands to create a fashion line that will include clothing, jewelry and beauty products for women. "I always said, 'Why can't I find great stuff?' And Sunrise was up for the challenge," McCarthy said of the line, which according to her, will include pieces in "all sizes." "Sunrise isn't afraid to shake it up and bring plus-size up to fashion," she explained. "I'm doing all sizes. It's a strange thing to stop at a certain size. Women don't, so why should clothes?" The still-unnamed brand will launch its sportswear line in 2015 at several department stores and more upscale pieces including accessories and beauty products will roll out sometime between 2016 and 2017. The items will range in price from $39 to $110.
Just ask Victoria's Secret. The famous lingerie retailer has just outed, albeit without much fuss or fanfare, a new bra named "Incredible" that incredibly has its own heart-rate sensor inside. Designed for athletes and women with active lifestyles, this bra will allow users to be updated of their heart's status without having to wear conspicuous or uncomfortable straps. That said, you'll still need to wear or at least attach some monitor of sorts to go with it. You can hardly call this piece of clothing a "smart bra". After all, it does not send messages, tweet your condition, determine your location, or notify you of short female hairstyles incoming calls (how would it do that anyway?). Even moreso, it actually doesn't have a complete heart rate monitor setup.
No Dez, no help, no chance: From the earliest moments of the game, Dez Bryant was extremely animated on the sidelines. FOXs cameras caught him on several occasions trying to spur on his teammates an exercise that appeared to swing from excitement to frustration. Hard to blame Bryant if he did lose his cool at all. Philadelphias cornerbacks broke up the first two passes thrown his way, first by Cary Williams and then by Bradley Fletcher (who probably got away with holding). While Bryant answered late in the first quarter on a 38-yard reception, he was held to three catches for 35 yards otherwise. The day was even worse for Dallas complementary pieces. Cole Beasley caught four passes but fumbled deep in his teams territory, leading to a Philadelphia field goal; Jason Witten finished with one catch; and Terrance Williams was virtually nonexistent, despite 38 yards receiving.
This ended Bryants streak of four consecutive games with a score. Seattle 19, San Francisco 3 As expected, not many fantasy flames emerged from this NFC West dogfight with Robert Turbin scoring the lone touchdown in this contest. Russell Wilson was his normal, efficient self on Thursday as he threw for 236 yards and a score while adding 35 rushing yards. The running game contributions of Wilson have become his fantasy calling card in recent weeks, although his 35 yards was his lowest output since Week 9. Week 14 should be another solid fantasy week for Wilson as Seattle travels to Philadelphia, but the remainder of the fantasy playoffs wont be as kind with matchups with San Francisco and Arizona upcoming. Wilson will need to keep chipping in with his rushing skills to keep fantasy teams advancing to title town. Marshawn Lynch was huge for Seattle as they melted the clock against San Francisco, running for 104 yards on 20 carries and his third 100+ yard game over the last four weeks.
I'm used to do everything by myself, but here I face language and cultural barriers, so I have no other choice than to rely on them. The students go out for me to find factories, stores or studios in Tainan that produce, sell or work with garments. They establish contacts, check the prices and quantity. In regard to the quantity, it is important for me to keep it less than 100 pieces, simply because 'Allan Vos' is a beginning brand. Finding manufacturers who produce in small quantities is no easy task as Industrial Design student Jason Lai experienced. Most manufacturers like you to buy fabric in large quantity, so our job is quite time consuming. Luckily, this week, I can prepare some design stuff like flyers and invitation cards for the upcoming event at 321 Artist Village. I'm much better at that. Janice Huang, another team member from the Industrial Design department, agrees that finding resources for Allan is hard work. She said, After all these searches for rhyme stones and garment, I'm looking forward to doing some editing and PR work for the event at 321 Artist Village. In addition to exploring production opportunities, the students now start working together with Vos to do a fashion shoot.

We've seen so many of the post-murder scenes more than once; putting them together in (mostly) chronological fashion to construct the coherent story was helpful, but relatively repetitive. I don't know about you guys, but I've been pretty much bonfire'd out for three or four weeks now, and the less debate about what to do with the body, the better. Again, that's the danger of telling the story in this fashioneventually, you have to bring the pieces together, and How to Get Away With Murder certainly bet that we would actually care about the students' various manias in the aftermath and want to see this stuff again. I'm not sure how true that is.
According to the New York City medical examiner, Rivers died due to predictable complications that arose during a surgery to check her vocal cords and her acid reflux disease. After going into cardiac arrest, the late comedian was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital and placed in a medically induced coma. One week later, on Sept. 4, she was pronounced dead. Before her untimely death, Rivers was one of four panelists -- including Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and George Kotsiopoulos -- that discussed Hollywoods fashion hits and misses on the E! network show. According to a breach-of-contract complaint filed on Monday, Three Lions Entertainment signed a contract for airtime on Sept. 9 for the Ryan Seacrest-hosted show. Featuring performances by Nicki Minaj, Pitbull and Usher, the program aired as scheduled, but CBS says that it has never gotten the money promised. Three Lions is run by Richard Beckman, former chief executive of Prometheus Global Media (publisher of The Hollywood Reporter) and Greenberg Traurig partner Joel Katz, whom the complaint paints to be "cowardly in the extreme when it comes to honoring contractual obligations." Of the $2.45 million, $500,000 of the amount went to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences a client of Katz and his partner Bobby Rosenbloum for the use of trademarks. CBS says that it advanced this sum. "Whether by coincidence or design," states the lawsuit, "Katz and Rosenbloum thereby protected their client NARAS from the risk of a Three Lions default while increasing the risk borne by CBS." The lawsuit says that Three Lions has not disputed that the payment is due. Beckman allegedly informed CBS during a telephone conversation that Three Lions is "insolvent." Neither Katz nor Beckman were immediately available for comment.

In addition, quality lags behind international standards, leaving Brazilian labels at a disadvantage compared with foreign luxury brands. "In Europe, a luxury brand is much more accessible than it is in Brazil," says Robic. Brazil also suffers from competition from large-scale producers in China, where associated costs are generally lower. "Without cutting costs, Brazilian production will not prove successful," warns Borges. The entire Versace for Riachuelo collection has been produced in Brazil, compared to only part of the McCartney line for C&A. Both designers are in Sao Paulo for the launch events this week.

The big thing is sweaters right now, she said. That's what's on our displays right now and what we can't keep on our displays right now. Any kind of sweater that's got something cute going on, whether it's a cute print or a fringe, fringe is huge of course, anything that's just the big, oversized sweater that you can pair with the leggings and even the layering with the cute infinity scarves still on top of that in different prints. Sweaters also translate to dresses. Sweater dresses or anything that you can layer with leggings and boots are big, Money added. Also, anything with flare, even if it's still the summer dresses with the flare, you can layer with them rather than having to put them away for the fall. You can put a cute, heavy sweater over it and then an infinity scarf with that and then put your boots with it and extend some of those dresses for the season. As far as coats go, a more vintage look is in style. Coats are having more of a vintage look with a boxy feel, Surrency said.

Others like Sweden's H&M -- one of the pioneers of special collections with top-name designers -- are scheduled to make the move in 2015. "Brazil is a huge market, but one that is essentially geared towards the mass market. We are betting on the future by setting up here," a spokesman for one Italian luxury brand told AFP on condition of anonymity. London-based consultancy Euromonitor calculates that sales of clothing and shoes ballooned by 62 percent in Brazil between 2008 and 2013, and predicts a further rise of 20 percent for 2013-2018. "So for me, when I went into fashion, I wanted to be responsible, and have a different take on luxury fashion, where I would not work with fur or leather," said McCartney, adding she wanted her collection to be affordable options for the buying public at large. "I try to approach what I do in fashion in a sustainable and a responsible way, so not only in the materials that I use, but the way that I source and manufacture my product," she said of a range priced between $35 and $150 and made from fabrics including cotton, viscose, lame and lace. Working on collaborations such as her current one with the C&A chain meant "pausing fast-fashion, just slowing it down for a moment, so that the consumer who maybe can't afford our clothes can come and have a different experience with C&A." McCartney said she saw her range as "quite timeless, so it's fast-fashion -- but it's meeting luxury in a way that you will have these garments, I hope, in the way they're designed, in the way which we've sourced the highest (quality) materials we could with C&A. "I think what we have done here is a good example of what we can do with fast fashion. I think they will last you longer than normal fast-fashion," said McCartney, adding she was "emotionally attached to everything I create." She told reporters fashion was "not just about luxury," hence her collaboration with a high street store. "I also worked with a lot of sustainable and environmentally friendly fabrics in this collaboration, so for me, it's about doing fast-fashion in a way that just slows it down a little bit," McCartney explained. "C&A is an incredible brand.
Arnstein said there is no gemological way to prove where a diamond came from based on its characteristics. Colored diamonds are becoming more popular Tiffany stock is better than diamonds He added that non-diamond engagement rings have become more socially acceptable thanks to major celebrities like Kate Middleton and Penelope Cruz rocking the blue gemstone. "Women tend to think, 'if it's good enough for the future Queen of England, I can do it too.'" He said sapphires, which can come in many different colors, are viewed as less flashy and convey a more conservative style. Colored diamonds have also become more common on engagement rings, specifically champagne and black diamonds, according to Sheffield. She's also seen strong demand for rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Leigh Plessner from jewelry store Catbird said the company first started selling engagement rings unintentionally.

The reason for that is what is termed "the Brazil cost" -- high taxes and lots of red tape, along with expensive raw materials and labor, make local production costly. AKSU, China (AP) Outside a mosque in China's restive west, a government-appointed Muslim cleric was dodging a foreign reporter's question about why young men of the Uighur ethnic minority don't have beards when one such youth interrupted. "Why don't you just tell them the truth?" he shouted to the cleric under the nervous gaze of several police officers who had been tailing the reporters all day in the oasis city of Aksu. "It's because the government doesn't allow beards." A plainclothes Uighur policeman swiftly rebuked the young man. "Be careful what you say," he warned. The tense exchange provided a fleeting glimpse of both the extremes of China's restrictions on minority Uighurs and the resentment that simmers beneath the surface in their homeland. Such a mood pervades Xinjiang's south, a vast, mainly rural region that's become a key battleground in the ruling Communist Party's struggle to contain escalating ethnic violence that has killed at least a few hundred people over the past 18 months. The personal matter of facial hair has taken on heavy political overtones in the Uighur heartland.
I've been pretty impressed with the chances he's been getting. Way too many Jay Cutler throws launched with unsettled feet. When he has his stance set, those throws look so pretty. When he doesn't... I think I'll be willing to write it off to the loud Seattle home field, as well as the Seattle pass rush, but we need to see him against Buffalo in two weeks. Cutler also missed Matt Forte on short checkdown throws, instead opting to keep plays downfield.

. . . (Source: ImaxTree; Art by Tanya Leigh Washington) When we think of fall colors, we often imagine dark, moody tones or rich evergreen hues; we do not think neon. Nevertheless, designers surprised show-goers during Fall 2014 Fashion Week by sending dresses, coats and separates in these bright hues down their runways. The key to these bold colors is that they are decidedly not the garish tones we saw in the '80s, but bursts of color at a level of palatable brightness. Designer Raf Simons lit up the Dior runway with layered dresses in vibrant hues.

The primary reason behind this is the womens clothing and accessories designers disappointing performance for the past seven quarters. Of late, the company has been reporting loss due to weak top-line performance and higher operating expenses. Under its strategic initiatives announced last month, bebe stores revealed that it intends to fully exit from its 2b business by the end of fourth-quarter fiscal 2014 which will include closure of 16 mall-based and e-commerce services. The company anticipates recording a charge of nearly $5$6 million in relation to asset write-offs, inventory liquidation, lease termination and employee lay off costs in fiscal 2014.
